Sunil Dutt


Sunil Dutt was a veteran actor, film producer, director and an active politician. His first spectacular success was the movie Mother India in 1957, a film which reflected Indian traditions and rustic life style. Some of his famous movies are Sadhna, Padosan, Gumraah, Waqt, Hamraaz, Milana and Meherban. Munnabhai MBBS was his last film where he played on-screen father to his son Sanjay Dutt. This versatile actor succumbed to a heart attack in 2005.

Film Awards: Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for "Khandaan" in 1966 and for "Mujhe Jeene Do" in 1963. Also received Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996 and Screen Weekly Awards for Lifetime Achievement in 1999.
Other Facts: He joined the congress in 1984 and won five times from the Mumbai North West constituency. He was the Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs at the time of his death.
